Unhidden

“Rachael has worked as our People and Partnerships manager for a year, helping us to shape what accessibility looks like internally to ensure that our brand values of being fully inclusive and accessible are also reflected inside our people, operations, events, and marketing strategy. She is our go-to person when it comes to the best practices of accessibility, and this is all on top of business-as-usual project management and partnership building. As part of her partnership management role, she also advises on best practices around marketing and social media, helping ensure that when we partner with other organisations they meet our best-practice expectations.

A highlight that showcases Rachael’s ability in accessibility, people management, project management, strategy, and events is that she has been show manager of our London Fashion Week show for both February and September 2023, managing a team of over 30 disabled and non-disabled volunteers and 20 disabled models, bringing in an audience of over 150+ people on both occasions.”

Client: Unhidden

Role: People and Partnerships Manager

Scope: Engaged in an ongoing consultancy role with Unhidden, a leader in adaptive fashion. My responsibilities encompass managing a part-time team, planning and executing events including full runways for London Fashion Week in February and September 2023, and fostering strategic key brand partnerships.

Achievements:

  • Team Management: Effectively lead the social media and operations support team, ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning.

  • Event Planning and Execution: Spearheaded event management, including prestigious London Fashion Week, showcases, coordinating with volunteers, models, and sponsors.

  • Partnership Portfolio Oversight: Act as the primary contact for potential brand partnerships, identifying and tracking collaboration opportunities.

Challenges:

  • Part-Time Communication Management: Navigating the complexities of responsive communication within a limited weekly time frame, achieved through clear expectations and regular email check-ins.

  • Strategic Visits to London HQ: Balancing the remote aspect of the role with strategic monthly visits to the company's London headquarters for essential business meetings and partnership development.

Impact: This role with Unhidden is pivotal in driving forward the agenda of inclusive fashion, leveraging strategic partnerships and events to promote adaptive clothing and accessibility in the fashion industry. As a brand, there is also an emphasis on building an accessible and inclusive company to ensure that the disabled and chronically sick team can thrive in their roles. In February 2023 I managed the first on-schedule adaptive London Fashion Week show to ensure it was a completely accessible and inclusive event.
