Scope: SIC is a groundbreaking non-profit e-learning hub dedicated to the 14.1 million disabled individuals in the UK seeking career support. Recognising the multifaceted nature of the disability employment gap, SIC adopts a circular approach, offering comprehensive support for both disabled talent and employers. Founded in 2021 led and built SIC as a non-profit for two years before stepping down as CEO to pursue research and consulting full-time.

Achievements:

  • E-Learning Hub Development: Established a fully accessible and interactive dynamic online platform featuring resources for disabled trainees, freelancers, employees, and employers created and taught by disabled and neurodiverse experts.

  • Innovative Programs: Launched unique initiatives like the Career Clinic and Think Tank, facilitating remote, flexible work experience support and interactive thought leadership online events.

  • Resource Curation: Curated an extensive collection of educational and practical resources, enhancing career prospects and workplace inclusivity.

Challenges:

  • Diverse Needs Accommodation: Addressing the diverse needs of a broad disabled community, tailoring resources to cater to a wide range of disabilities and career stages. We solved this by engaging with and creating a large directory of lived experience experts we called upon for tailored resource creation or mentor matching.

  • Employer Engagement: Engaging and educating employers about managing and hiring disabled talent, fostering a culture shift towards inclusivity in the workplace away from the tick box exercise. We solved this by creating a series of workshops that together formed the backbone of a beginner's guide to disability and neurodiversity in the workplace, creating a learning programme employers returned to.

Impact: SIC aims to be the premier destination for career support and disability workplace integration in the UK, driving a significant change in attitudes and practices.

  • Winner of RIDI award (recruitment industry disability initiative) 2022 ‘disability specialist’
